There’s no magic formula to write articles online—and making money from it. All you need is a little knowledge of a pet subject, a computer with internet access and a good command of your language (usually English) and you’re ready to make money writing articles. You can be anybody—a stay at home mom, a casual worker, a full time worker with a penchant for writing or a student with some free time.

Articles of various kinds—you choose the kind you want to write and go ahead with them. They could be any of the following or all of them in a mix-and-match style.

•    Your own experience: Choose a point of view from your own experience. It could be how you overcame a personal problem, a loss, or how you solved a problem or how you improved your business or an aspect of your life. People are looking for solutions for he same problems, so it helps to write on similar issues that can be of help to them. Besides, you can empathize with them and end up being a source of help and useful advice.

•    Freelance Writing: Write articles for magazines, and freelancing sites such as getacoder, rentacoder, getafreelancer and elance where you can register and swing freelance writing assignments and so make money writing articles online.

•    Listen to the news and find an angle to write on: Perhaps you’ve been listening to the news on a war in a particular place. Write a humanist angle to write on—perhaps families of soldiers, or how the geography of a country influences war, the history of that country, etc. Or you could take an entirely different view and write a travel piece on that country.

•    How-to articles: Perhaps you know how to do certain things around the house, or in the garden, photo studio or elsewhere. Create a batch of articles on this and sell it as a lot. Or convert it into an e-book or a report—people will love to have comprehensive knowledge in one book.

•    FAQs: Choose a certain subject and answer FAQs on it. It’s just another way of giving answers to frequently asked questions on a hot topic. Again, this is a way of being a resource center.

•    Articles to save money: Everyone wants to know just what to do to save money in the easiest possible way. Perhaps you have answers to this question and can put it down in individual articles. Explain how people can save electricity, water, buy from a particular store on particular days, etc and so save money.

•    Self-Blogging: You could start your own blog and if you have domain knowledge in a particular niche, you can write short and interesting articles here. It can bring you not just loyal readers but some good money from the ads you display here. But, apart from writing, you also need to promote your profile online to get seen.
