Soho Serenity – Magazine Style WordPress Theme

Soho Serenity is an unique addition to the list of rapidly growing list of “Magazine Style WordPress” themes. More and more people, including myself, are exploring more than “blogging” capability of wordpress. There are people who are hardcore lovers of proper CMS sodtwares like Drupal and Joomla who never wants to give WordPress proper credit. However, more and more “brand named” sites are coming up with wordpress everyday. Numerous people, magazines, newspapers are using wordpress as their CMS solution. I believe in few more future releases, wordpress will be a even better software for Content Management. Well, the huge line of “magazine” like/style themes properly suggests that wordpress can be efficiently used as a CMS.

The first thing that you notice is the color scheme used in this particular Magazine Style WordPress theme. Somehow it reminds me about ancient history books. I can not recall any other Magazine Style wordpress theme that uses such an unique color scheme. May be a perfect theme for serious content type websites.  Well, I am not discouraging anybody from using it. I just feel that your theme has to go along with the temperament of your blog. There are some color schemes that may be used for any type of content. But this theme if not for everybody. Well, again my feeling only. You may have a different idea.

Also, the author make her point clear by saying “I’m just a regular person who spends her days at work on the computer and comes home and spends her evenings on the computer. I’ve been using WordPress for over 3 years and after enjoying all the WP community has to offer I’ve decided it’s time for me to give back. This is my humble attempt at that.”
I myself is a below regular person. Even after using WordPress for about 3 years I know very little about it. Certainly I have zero ability to make a theme like like. Weldone Mina.

What NOT so special?
The buttons for the “Showcase” and “Current News” look little odd. Specially when there is no buttons for the pages. Light blue color, used in the “Welcome To Our Site” section does not go well with the rest of the theme. Category display full posts with thumbnails. Most of the recent Magazine Style wordpress themes display thumbnails with excerpts in CATEGORY display pages. The home page Showcase display thumbnail images with no description while the “Current News” section displays brief intro of the posts without any thumbnails.
