No more options for the Super Duper Hit WordPress theme “Options”

I am sad to report this to this blog, but I had to. One of my the favorite theme maker Justin Tadlock has discontinued the the “Options” theme for few days now. Along with options, all child themes are also discontinued at the same time. Below is a long list of awesome themes that will not be updated any more. I am sad. I use options in multiple of my sites. Truly speaking, there is no other theme better than the “Options” theme. It is easy to customize, easy to use, had numerous features and what not. When Justin moved to the new site themehybrid, I knew “options” will be gone soon.

I am still using the theme Good and Evil ( Child theme of Options theme) in my Music Interview site Gaanmela.com. I am still not decided what to do in future. Which theme to choose.

The new series of themes under “Hybrid” are also excellent. I use the Old School Theme (Child theme of Hybrid) in my movie and entertainment site CalcuttaTube. I also love the Hybrid series of themes but it lacks many of the features option theme had. I specially miss the sidebar “category” widget that displays posts from particular categories of your choice with images. I don’t know if you can do the similar thing with an available plug in. I have not seen any other wordpress theme with similar option.

Well, now I started my search for alternative choices. I will post a list of the best possible Free Magazine Style WordPress Theme Soon. Well, if you are still using the Options theme you should probably start thinking about your alternatives. After I upgraded to WordPress 2.7.1, the theme broke for one my sites. The appearance of the site was O.K. It was just the widgets that I could not edit at all.

I saw the Hybrid News also. It looks almost identical to Old school theme but really much difficult to use. If you are using the HYBRID, I would suggest the use of Old School. Well, this is strictly my own feeling, you can also try for yourself.
