Is no one noticing your site? Try these methods
You’ve set up your site but find it depressing that it’s not attracting the right audience. If you are an entrepreneur whose site desperately needs more traffic, you need to have it optimized so that search engines find it and rank it high in their listings. Here are some ways to get your site noticed by just about everyone:
  • Search Engine Optimization For Dummies
    Overall Rating:

    Retail Price: $29.99
    Amazon Price: $17.44
Send your site description to directories:
Send the details of your site to directories free of cost with a short description of it and your site’s URL. Your site will soon be listed in the directory for interested people to check out. They will also have another means of sending back links to your site which will help increase your rankings in the search engines.
  • Send your site details to search engines: You want your site to be seen by just about everyone on earth? Well, why not make it easy for them to locate your site? By sending it to search engines, you are having it indexed so that when people conduct a search using certain keywords, your site will rank high because it corresponded to those keywords. This will drive in the traffic to your site.
  • Swap links with other site owners: Exchange links with site owners who will host you on their site while you do the same with their links. This is one good way of increasing your rankings with search engines. Once you set up the links, this will serve as nothing but advertising for free.
  • Add your URL whenever and wherever possible: Put your URL in all kinds of communication—whether on your online signature, business cards, stationary or anywhere else. This is sure to increase the curiosity in your site and more people will be drawn to it.
  • Create an email list: Create an email list based on the visitors who have visited your site. Send them updates on services and other news from time to time. If they want to unsubscribe, make it easy for them to do so. By doing this, you’ll have a lot more people recommending your site.
  • Launch a contest: Your contest can be as simple as asking people to fill out a form on your site, quoting their names and email address to win a product or service. However, look into the legalities of running a contest before launching into it. By launching a contest online, you are putting yourself in touch with everyone in the world, of course subject to online contest laws.
Other ways of getting your site noticed:
•    Fill each page of your site with descriptive and useful information, with relevant words that relate directly to your service, product or industry.
•    Put your USP (Unique Selling Proposition) up there for everyone to see in clear print.
•    Each page of your site should have a distinct title with keywords used adequately.
•    All your descriptions should be written but not in a boasting style. For example, don’t say “Asia’s largest steel plant” but “One of Asia’s largest steel plants.”
•    Are you located in a very strategic location vis-à-vis your business? If yes, mention it, otherwise let it go.
